Enabling and guiding schools to embrace a restorative approach and transform into restorative schools
Let's change the language around bullying
Let's move away from: Blame, Shame and Punishment
Professionals will have access to training for change to happen
I want everyone who works with children aged 7-12 years to have access to training
Let's think differently
A new understanding, a new healthier way. Let's reduce violence, have healthier relationships, have restorative conversations
I believe in...
Creating new and restorative understanding around the phenomenon of bullying behaviour amongst groups of children.
Exchanging blame, shame and stigma for more peaceful language and approach which restore healthy relationships and bring healing.
Empowering professionals, volunteers, parents and any adults who may encounter bullying issues amongst children with the tools and skills to understand how to make restorative interventions in bullying cycles and dynamics amongst groups of children.
I'd like to change...
The language we use around the phenomenon of bullying.
The cultural retributive thrust of blame and shame to the growth of restorative methodologies.
The use of punitive, disciplinary approaches to the acknowledgement of harm done and restoring peace.

Private Practice 1:1
In my private practice I work with individuals or groups of children who may be encountering bullying issues or cycles, or simply may have the potential to be targeted. This work is done through the medium of expressive arts to unveil the potential bullying dynamic and to support the group or individual to find ways to restoratively reframe their experience.

About Monica
I am a Consultant Educator and Trainer in Restorative Antibullying Methodologies and Interventions. I also have a private practice in which I work with individuals or groups of children who may be encountering bullying issues or cycles, or simply may have the potential to be targeted to restoratively reframe their experience. I witnessed and experienced deep bullying cycles at first hand as Secondary School Art Teacher which led me to a Masters in Aggression Studies as a way to try to understand the phenomenon from a behavioural science and theoretical basis. For the past 11 years I have worked largely in the Education Sector designing and implementing Antibullying Programs in Schools nationally. My doctoral research into bullying cycles amongst over 6500 children between the ages of 7 to 12 is the largest Irish data sample available and has yielded ... insights into what children misunderstand about bullying and how they feel they should respond to it. My work is with children is largely based on this evidence. I have also published research into Teacher Student Aggression, as a contributor to Bullying in Irish Education - Cork University Press, 2013.
I am committed to trying to change the language around bullying within communities which can often be a pervasive, limiting and escalating aspect of the problem. I'd like to make it possible for anyone who works or volunteers with children to have training that empowers them to support children to growthfully to work through potential bullying, and thus supporting positive mental health and wellbeing.
